About Aapla Syampakghar – Food & Beverages in Nagpur
It's just a regular house here at 170 in Abhyankar Nagar. We call it Aapla Syampakghar because that's what it is, just a kitchen where things get made. We didn't want anything too big. My wife and I started this because we liked to cook and neighbors kept asking for extra portions of whatever we were making. Now we do it every day for more people. The neighborhood is quiet mostly, and we like it that way. We get up early to get the stove going. There’s always a lot of chopping and stirring to do before noon. We don't have a fancy menu or anything like that. We just make what we know and what we like to eat ourselves. Some days it's more busy than others, especially around festival times. We have a few helpers from around the area who come in for a few hours to help with the heavy lifting. It feels like a big family kitchen most of the time. We use the same pots we've had for years. People stop by the gate to pick up their parcels on their way home from work. We try to keep things simple and clean. It’s not a restaurant with tables and chairs, just a place where food happens. Abhyankar Nagar has changed over the years but our house stays pretty much the same. If the food tastes like home, people come back. That's the way we look at it. It keeps us busy and we get to stay in our own space without too much fuss. We just keep our heads down and cook what we know.
