King Balloons Manufacturing Exports Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai is based at Plot No. 2 in the Vindyavasni Society on DM Road. We are in the Vakola area of Santacruz, which is always moving fast. Being in a society means we have neighbors all around us, so we try to keep things orderly. The factory floor is actually quite colorful because of all the balloons, which is a nice change from the gray streets outside. We have machines that run all day, making that rhythmic clicking sound. It gets pretty humid here in Mumbai, so the air feels thick inside the building sometimes. We have big fans running constantly to keep the air moving. The DM Road traffic is something else, especially during rush hour, so getting shipments in and out takes some planning. We’ve been at this plot for a while now. The building is an older one, with some cracks in the plaster and stairs that have been worn down over the years. We have a small staff of local people who know the routine well. It is a strange thing to be making something so light and cheerful in the middle of a busy industrial city, but that is what we do. We just keep the machines going and watch the bags pile up.
