Famous Die Polish

Famous Die Polish is based in Shop No. 11 A at Sai Kripa Society. We are right in the middle of Sakinaka, which is a part of Andheri East that never really seems to get any sleep. Our work involves polishing metal dies, and it is a very messy business. Your clothes and hands are usually covered in black residue by the time the first hour of work is done. The shop is filled with the sound of grinding and polishing wheels. It can get quite hot in here during the summer months because of the machinery and the lack of a good breeze. We don't have a reception area or a place for people to sit and wait. It’s strictly a workspace where we focus on the metal parts brought to us. Sakinaka is full of workshops and small factories, so we fit right in with the local landscape. We take the rough pieces of metal and work on them until they are as smooth as they need to be for the machines they go into. It’s repetitive work and it takes a lot of patience to get the finish right. We don't talk much while we are working because of the noise. We just put on our gear and get through the pile of work for the day. It’s a basic operation but it’s what we know how to do in this little corner of Andheri.
