Ushajaivant Foundation

Ushajaivant Foundation is located up on the 19th floor of Sterling Tower. This is on Harishchandra Goregaonkar Road, right in the Gamdevimarg area of Mumbai. Being so high up means we get a lot of wind, which is nice in the Mumbai heat. The office itself is quite plain. We have some whiteboards with notes scribbled on them and a few chairs for visitors. We do not have any fancy decorations or art on the walls. We focus on social work and helping people out with various issues. It is a lot of paperwork and meeting with different folks from across the city. Grant Road is always moving, and you can feel that energy even up on the 19th floor. We usually get to the office early to beat the worst of the train rush. It is just a small group of us. We handle everything ourselves, from answering the door to filing the taxes. It is hard work, and the days can be long. Sometimes we stay late and watch the lights of Mumbai come on. We do not have a mission statement or anything like that. We just saw a need for this kind of foundation and decided to start it. It has been a learning process for all of us. We are not experts at everything, but we try our best to figure things out as we go along. It is honest work in a busy city.
