Umar International Art

Umar International Art is located in Room No 2 of the Jeevan Jyoti Society in Santacruz East. This isn't a professional studio or a fancy gallery. It is a small room where we do all our work. We have been living and working in Santacruz for a long time. The society is a typical Mumbai residential complex. There are people always coming and going, and kids playing in the hallways. Our space is very cramped because we have so much art and materials stored in there. We have brushes, paints, and finished pieces all over the place. It’s a bit of a mess, but it is a creative mess. We don't have a salesperson or a front desk. If you want to see our art, you just come into the room. We don't use any complicated words to describe what we do. We just like making things. The lighting in the room isn't the best, so we often work near the window during the day. Santacruz East is a busy area, but once you are inside the society, it feels a bit more private. We don't have a website or an online shop. Most of our work is sold to people who know us or who are referred by others. It’s a very simple and direct way of doing things. We don't have any big ambitions to be famous. We just want to keep making our art in Room No 2.
