Down in B 111 of the Virwani Industrial Estate, things stay pretty noisy. We are right off the Western Express Highway in Goregaon East, so the sound of trucks and cars is basically the background music for everything we do at Nisihi Art. The estate itself is an old place, full of different workshops and small factories. Our space is filled with materials, frames, and whatever projects we are working on at the moment. It’s not a gallery where everything is spotless. There’s usually some dust and the smell of glue or wood shavings. We move things around a lot to make space for bigger pieces. The lighting isn't perfect, but it works for us. Most of our day is spent measuring, cutting, and putting things together. We’ve been here long enough that we know the security guards and the guys in the neighboring units. Sometimes we have to carry heavy frames down the hallway, which is always a bit of a struggle. It’s practical work. We aren't trying to be famous; we just like finishing a piece and seeing it look right. The tea guy comes around twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a break and talk about the weather or how the highway traffic is looking for the commute home. It's a regular life in a busy industrial hub, and we just keep our heads down and work on whatever comes in next.
