Tushiv The Illusion Of Art is based in the Singh Industrial Estate on Ram Mandir Road in Lower Parel. We are up on the 3rd floor in Unit Number 2. The industrial estate is a classic Lower Parel building, with wide stairs and a bit of a worn-out look that you only find in these old work zones. Our studio is a mix of different things depending on what we are working on at the time. Sometimes there are canvases and paints everywhere, and other times it is more about digital setups. It is a bit of a climb to the 3rd floor, but once you are up here, it is a good place to work away from the street noise. The unit is functional, with high ceilings and old windows that let in some decent light during the day. We share the building with all sorts of other businesses, from small manufacturing shops to storage units, so there is always a mix of people in the hallways. It’s not a polished gallery space; it’s more of a workshop where things actually get made. We spend a lot of time just experimenting with different materials and seeing what happens. Lower Parel has changed a lot with all the new malls, but this industrial estate still feels like the old version of the city. We like the grit of it. It is a place where we can be messy and creative without having to worry about keeping everything perfect all the time.
