The Bombay Burmah Trading Corp. Ltd

Our spot is at 9, Wallace Street, right in the middle of the Fort area. We are on the 3rd Floor, which sounds like a short climb but the stairs in these old buildings feel a lot longer than they really are. The Bombay Burmah Trading Corp. Ltd has its name on the door, but inside, it just looks like a place where people have been working for decades. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, and the wooden floors creak when you walk to the back. Fort is a strange neighborhood because it’s so quiet on some streets but absolutely packed on others. Wallace Street has that old Mumbai charm where you can still see the history in the architecture. We don’t have any of those modern glass partitions or bright lights. Instead, we have heavy desks and windows that let in a bit of that city dust. Most afternoons, the light hits the 3rd floor just right, and it gets pretty warm. We usually have the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes through the narrow lanes. People come and go, delivery guys know the way up by heart, and the sound of the street outside is like a constant background noise. It’s not a polished corporate headquarters, just a workspace where we spend our days trying to keep things moving along. It feels like home after a while, even with the stacks of old ledgers and the ticking clock on the wall.
