Sajjad Sakharkar

I’m Sajjad Sakharkar, and you can find me on the second floor of the Ismailiya Hostel in Dongri. This is one of the older parts of Mumbai, and it has a lot of character, though it can be very crowded. Working from here is interesting because there is always noise from the street and the constant movement of people in the hostel. I’ve set up my small workspace here because it’s central and I’ve been in this area for a long time. It’s not your typical business address, I know. But it works for me. I spend my days mostly dealing with paperwork and taking calls. I don't have a team of people working under me; I do the bulk of the work myself. Sometimes it gets a bit overwhelming, but I manage. People know me in the neighborhood, and they know where to find me if they need anything. I don’t use any marketing tricks or try to sound like a big company. I’m just a guy working from a room in Dongri, trying to make a living and do a decent job. The hostel has been a stable base for me. It’s a bit of a climb to the second floor, but I don’t mind. The area has everything you could need within a few blocks. I keep my things organized as best as I can in the space I have. It’s a simple, honest way to work, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. There’s a tea stall just around the corner that makes the best cutting chai.
