I run my business out of Shop No. 1 at A-2/2 in Prabuddha Nagar. It’s a small shop, just enough space for me and the things I need to do my work. I have been in this spot for quite a while now, and most of the neighbors know me by name. Safdar Sheikh is just the name on the board, but it’s really just me here most of the time. The shop has a counter at the front and some storage space at the back. It’s not a fancy place with glass windows or bright lights. I just keep it simple. Usually, the day starts with me opening up the shutters and sweeping the floor. Then I wait for the first few people to stop by. Sometimes it’s busy and I don’t even have time to drink my tea, and other days it’s quiet enough that I can read the paper. I don’t have any employees or a big management system. I do everything myself, from the cleaning to the bookkeeping. It can be a lot of work, but I like being my own boss. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, which is nice. I’ve lived around here for years, so this shop feels like a second home to me. I don’t plan on changing much about how I do things. It works for me and it works for the people who come here. It’s just a regular life in a regular shop, nothing more and nothing less.
