We’ve been running Rupa Art Classes out of Room 11 in Plot 77 for a good while now. It’s right there in Santacruz West, tucked away on the New Link Road. Most people know the spot because we’re pretty close to Raheja College, which helps with directions for new students. The room usually smells like oil paints and old paper, which I guess is what happens when you spend all day teaching. It isn't a fancy studio by any means. We have some wooden stools and tables that have seen better days, covered in colorful stains from different projects over the years. Most of the time, the ceiling fan makes a little clicking noise while students work on their sketches. It’s a bit of a walk from the main station, but the neighborhood stays lively. We just focus on the basics here, helping kids and adults pick up a brush or a pencil. Some days are quieter than others. On rainy afternoons, the light through the window isn't great, but we make do with the overhead lamps. It’s a simple space for people who want to learn something without too much fuss. We don’t have a big reception or anything like that. You just walk in and see whatever is being worked on that day. It gets a bit crowded when the evening batch shows up, but we manage to fit everyone around the main table somehow.
