Reshma Patil

This is Room No 4 in the Matruchaya Building. We are located in Kandivali East, in the 400101 zip code area. The building is one of those older ones that feels like a real home rather than just a block of flats. We are on the lower level, so it is easy for people to get in and out without much trouble. Reshma Patil is the name on our door. The room is not very big at all. It has just enough space for a table, a few chairs, and our basic supplies. We have a small window that looks out into the narrow space between the buildings. You can always hear the sounds of families living their lives all around us. Someone is always cooking something that smells delicious, or you hear children playing in the hallways. Kandivali East has become very crowded lately. The traffic on the main road can be quite loud in the early mornings. We have a very simple routine here. We open up the room early and stay until the work is finished. The water supply only comes at certain times, so we have to be careful with that. Matruchaya is a friendly building. We know the people in the other rooms quite well. It is a very plain setup with no fancy decorations. We just have the things we need to get through the day. It is just a normal part of life in this suburb. (249 words)
