Read To India Foundation

We are the Read To India Foundation, located in the historic Dhanraj Mahal in Colaba. Our office is on the second floor, plot 20A in the D Block. Being in Colaba, there’s a lot of history all around us, and C.S.M. Marg is always busy with tourists and locals alike. Our focus is on reading and books, which is why we have stacks of them everywhere in the office. It’s not the most organized place, but we know where everything is. We think that having a book in your hand can change a lot of things, even if it’s just for an hour. The building itself is beautiful, though the old pipes and slow elevators can be a bit of a hassle sometimes. We aren't a big fancy library; we are more like a small hub for getting books to people who need them. The staff here is small, mostly just people who really love stories and learning. We spend a lot of time sorting through donations and figuring out where they should go next. It’s a lot of manual work, carrying boxes and checking titles. We don’t have a corporate strategy or anything like that. We just want more people to have the chance to read something good. If you’re ever walking near the museum, we’re just a short walk away. It’s a quiet spot for us to work on something we really care about in our own way.
