Qayam Foundation

The Qayam Foundation is based in Vasai, out in the Thane district. Our office is in Flat Number 505 at Hayaat Hill. The building is right across from the Shalimar Hotel, which most people around here know well. It is a fifth-floor apartment that we use for all our foundation business. Vasai is quite a distance from the main Mumbai city, but it is a growing area with a lot of people. Being on the fifth floor is nice because we get a bit of a breeze. The office itself is very basic. We have some computers, a printer, and a lot of files. We focus on local issues and helping people in the nearby community. It is a small team and we all do a bit of everything. Sometimes we are out meeting people and other times we are stuck inside doing paperwork. It is not a polished environment. It looks like a place where people actually work. We have a small kitchen area where we make coffee and take breaks. People find us by looking for the Shalimar Hotel and then crossing over to Hayaat Hill. We’ve been here for some time and have become part of the local scene. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall. We just try to help out whenever someone comes to us with a problem. It is a quiet place to do good work for the neighborhood.
