Qais Sojitrawala

Our office is tucked away in India House No 2/29. We are up on the 5th floor here at Cumballa Hill. It is an older building with a lot of character, but the stairs can be a real workout if you aren't used to them. Qais Sojitrawala is the name on the door, and inside it is mostly just stacks of files and a couple of old desks. We are right opposite Agast Kranti Marg, so the view out the window is always moving with buses and cars. It is a busy part of the city, but once you get inside and close the door, it gets surprisingly quiet. We spend most of the morning answering emails and sorting through paperwork that seems to never end. There is a small pantry in the back where we make tea, and that is usually where we take our breaks. It is a very practical sort of space. We don't have any flashy decorations or expensive furniture. It is just a place to sit and do the job. The light in the mornings is really good for reading through documents. Sometimes the lift makes a strange grinding noise, but we have lived with it for years. People come by for meetings, and we just sit around the main table and talk things through. It is a steady way to spend the day. We have been here for a long time and the neighborhood feels like home. It is just us here, working through the daily tasks.
