My place is located in Santacruz East, specifically in the Vakola area within the Vijayshree Durga Society. It is number 15. The society is usually quite lively with neighbors coming and going and children running around in the afternoons. I work from here, and my desk is pushed right up by the window where I can see what’s happening outside in the courtyard. It’s not a formal business setting with glass partitions or a reception desk. It feels like a home because it is my home. I spend my hours looking over various accounts or whatever task is currently on the table for that day. Vakola is a bit of a tight-knit place, and being in a society like Vijayshree Durga means you always have someone to talk to during a tea break. The work I do is pretty straightforward. I keep my own hours, but usually, that means I’m working quite late into the evening. There are stacks of paper that I keep meaning to file away properly, but more always seems to arrive before I finish. It’s a bit of a juggle sometimes, managing everything without a big office support system to help out. But I honestly prefer it this way. It’s honest work and I don’t have to commute very far in the morning. The traffic in Santacruz can be terrible, so staying local is a big plus for me. I just do my best to keep everything organized and handle the requests that come through.
