Pradarshak Gallery is tucked away in the Kalpana Building over in Khar West. We’ve been around near Madhu Park for quite a while now. It’s a relatively quiet spot, which is nice when you are trying to look at paintings. We aren't a big museum or a cold corporate space. It's just a place where local artists can hang their work on the white walls and hope someone likes it. Sometimes the gallery is full of bright colors, and other times the exhibits are more simple and quiet. We spend a lot of time just moving frames around and making sure the light bulbs aren't burnt out. It’s not a fast-paced kind of job. People wander in from the park sometimes just to see what’s new this week. We don't do those big fancy openings with expensive champagne. It’s more about the art itself and the people who make it. Khar is a busy area, but this particular street stays mostly calm throughout the day. We've seen a lot of different styles come through these doors over the years. Some artists are young and just starting their journey. Others have been painting for forty years in their small rooms. We keep the place clean and wait for people to stop by. There’s always something interesting to look at. We don't use big complicated words to describe the art. If it looks good, it looks good. That’s how we see it. The building at Plot No 100 is old but it has character.
