P T F E Rubber Works is over in Goregaon East, inside the Geeta Industrial Estate. We are pretty close to the Lughu Udyog Kendra, which is a well-known spot in this part of town. The estate is full of factories and workshops, so you can always hear the sound of metal being cut or machines humming in the background. Our unit is at number 8, and it’s a place where we get our hands dirty every single day. Working with rubber means there is a very specific smell that hangs in the air, something you get used to after a week or two. The floors are concrete and usually have a bit of oil or dust on them from the production process. We aren't trying to look like a modern tech office; this is a place for manufacturing and hard work. Most of our guys have been with us for a long time and they know the machines inside out. We spend the day monitoring the equipment and making sure everything is coming out the way it should. It’s hot in the afternoons, but we have some big fans that help a little bit. When the shift ends, we usually sit around for a few minutes before heading out into the Goregaon traffic. It’s a straightforward life, focused on making parts and keeping the machines running without any fancy talk or corporate nonsense. We just do the work and go home to our families.
