I run Nikhil Photography out of Mulund in Mumbai. If you know Mumbai, you know how busy and crowded it gets, and Mulund has its own specific vibe. It’s where I started, and it’s where I still base everything. Photography isn't just about having a fancy camera; it’s about spending a lot of hours waiting for the right light or traveling across the city to a shoot. I spend a lot of time on my feet. My workspace is filled with lenses, tripods, and bags that are always half-packed for the next job. I don't have a big studio with a receptionist. It is mostly just me handling the bookings and the editing. Mulund is a good spot because it’s connected to everything else, though the commute can be a bit of a nightmare sometimes. I’ve lived and worked in Mumbai all my life, so I’m used to the pace. I do all sorts of photos, from small family things to bigger events, but I don't really like to boast about it. I just take the pictures and hope the people like them. Some days I am out all day in the heat, and other days I am stuck at the computer for ten hours straight just going through files. It’s a bit of an unpredictable life, but I wouldn't want to be doing anything else. Being a photographer here means you have to be quick and ready for anything.
