About National Watch & Radio Centre – Gifts in Mumbai
Our place is in Kurla East at number 2. We’ve been handling watches and radios for a long time. Not many people use those big old radios anymore, but we still get a few coming in for repair. Most of the work now is watches. Kurla is a crowded place, and our shop is no different. We have shelves full of bits and pieces we’ve saved over the years. You never know when a specific screw from an old radio might be needed. The work is quiet and requires a lot of patience. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be, so I use the heavy lenses now. We don't do any big advertising. People just know we are here in the East. If a radio has a bad connection or a watch has a dead battery, we take a look. We don't promise to fix everything instantly because some things take time to diagnose. We like to be thorough. It’s a small shop, and it gets hot in the summer, but we stay busy. We’ve seen the trains go by and the buildings go up. Everything changes, but people still need to know what time it is. We are just a regular part of the street here. No frills, just the tools and the workbench. It is how we have always run the business and we don't see any reason to stop now.
