Naina Thakkar

I am based out of Balram Chambers on Barrack Road. It's right there in the Church Gate area of Chandigarh, not far from Bombay Hospital. It’s an old building with a lot of history, and it has some character to it. I spend most of my days here handling various bits of work that come my way. It’s not a huge operation with dozens of employees or anything like that. Usually, it’s just me and maybe one other person helping with all the paperwork and phone calls. The office is filled with files and books, and sometimes it feels like there isn't enough space for it all to fit. People come by when they need something looked at or sorted out. Being so near the hospital means there is always a lot of traffic and noise outside, but it’s a good central location to work from. I’ve been in this spot for a while, so most of the neighbors and other shopkeepers know me. I don’t go for any of that high-pressure sales talk or business speak. I just talk to people plainly about what they need and how I can help. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up and stops working, so I end up taking the stairs. It keeps me moving, I suppose. The desk is always a bit of a mess with papers, but I have my own system for finding things. It’s just a normal workplace where the days go by pretty fast.
