Myroots Rural Initiatives Foundation

We’re up on the seventh floor of Veda CHS, right on Eknath Ghadi Marg in Bhoiwada. Myroots Rural Initiatives Foundation operates out of flat A-704. Being in Parel means we’re right in the middle of the Mumbai bustle. It’s a long way up, but the view of the city is something else. We aren't a big, flashy NGO with a glass building. We just have this one apartment that we’ve turned into our workspace. It gets a bit cramped when everyone is in at once, especially with all the maps and files we keep on the walls. We focus on rural stuff, even though we’re based here in the city. It’s a lot of back and forth, organizing things and making sure help gets where it needs to go. The lift in Veda CHS can be a bit temperamental, so we’ve learned to be patient. We aren't here to give fancy speeches or look important. We’re just here to work. Most days are spent on the phone or typing away at our old computers. Parel is a busy place, and we try to keep up with the pace. It’s a small team, but we get a lot done. We don't worry about being polished. We just worry about doing the job right. It’s simple, honest work from a small office in Mumbai, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
