Motiwala Arts

Motiwala Arts is located at 206, Jolly Bhawan, No.2, over at 7 New Marine Lines. It’s a solid old building that has a lot of character. We’ve been here for a while and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. Our space is usually a bit of a mess because we always have different projects going on at the same time. There are frames leaning against the walls and various tools scattered on the workbenches. We don’t really bother with making it look like a showroom because we’re too busy actually working on the art. It’s a bit of a walk from the station, but it’s a nice enough path. We spend a lot of time talking about colors and materials, sometimes getting into long debates about things that probably wouldn't matter to anyone else. The light in Jolly Bhawan is actually pretty good for what we do, which is why we’ve stayed here so long. We don't have a big staff, just a few people who know what they're doing. Some days are quiet and we just focus on the work, while other days the phone won't stop ringing and everyone is a bit stressed. We try to take it as it comes. We aren't trying to be the biggest place in town, we just want to do work that we don't feel ashamed of. It’s a decent way to earn a living and the building has a good vibe.
