Milap Arts

We are based in Andheri East, right on Ganesh Lane 7. It’s one of those narrow lanes where everyone knows each other. Our space is filled with all sorts of materials and tools for the art work we do. It’s not always the tidiest place, but we know exactly where everything is kept. From early morning, there’s usually the sound of cutting or tapping going on as we work on different projects. We’ve lived and worked in this part of Andheri for quite a while, so we’ve seen the neighborhood grow and change around us. People often walk past and peek in to see what we are making. We don't really do much advertising; word just travels around the lane and beyond. It’s a lot of manual work, and our hands are usually a bit dirty by the end of the shift. Whether it's a small frame or something bigger, we just take our time with it. There’s something satisfying about finishing a piece and seeing it ready to go. We drink a lot of chai throughout the day to keep us going. The light in the shop is best in the mornings, so that's when we do the more detailed bits. It’s a simple life here in Ganesh Lane, just making things and talking to the people who drop by. It’s not about being famous, just about doing the work we know how to do.
