Melwin Arts

Melwin Arts is located at 6 on the 132 Feet Ring Road in Dahisar. It’s a busy spot because of the road, and there’s always the sound of traffic in the background. My workshop is right there, and I spend most of my time among the tools and materials. I started this place because I wanted a space to create things. It’s not a gallery, it’s more of a place where things are made and fixed. The floor usually has some shavings or paint marks on it. Dahisar is a good area to be in, even with the noise from the Ring Road. I’ve got a small bench where I do the detailed work and a larger area for the bigger pieces. Sometimes friends from the neighborhood stop by for a chat while I'm working. It’s a very informal environment. I don't really follow a strict nine-to-five schedule; I just stay until whatever I’m working on feels right for the day. There are a lot of unfinished projects tucked into the corners, waiting for their turn. Dealing with customers is usually just a conversation about what they have in mind. I write down the details on whatever scrap of paper is handy. It’s a simple life, and I enjoy the hands-on nature of the work. The address is easy to find, so people don’t have much trouble reaching me. I usually lock up once the sun goes down and the traffic starts to thin out a little.
