Matoshri Arts And Sports Trust is situated in a pretty large complex over in Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road. We call the area Green Field. It’s right in Andheri East and you will find us directly opposite the Kamal Amrohi Studio, which everyone around here knows. People come here for all sorts of things, from kids running around on the ground to older folks attending the art programs we have in the rooms. It is not a shiny new facility, but it gets the job done and stays pretty busy throughout the week. Kids come by after school and on weekends it’s usually packed with families. The JVLR road is always noisy, but once you get inside the gates, it feels a bit more separated from the traffic. We spend a lot of time maintaining the grounds because the grass and the courts take a lot of wear and tear from all the use. The staff here are mostly local people who have been around for years. We don’t have fancy marketing or anything, we just open the gates and let the activities happen. It’s a place where people can actually do things rather than just talk about them. Sometimes the scheduling gets a bit messy with so many groups wanting to use the space at once, but we figure it out eventually. It's just a part of running a community trust in Mumbai.
