Madina Aluminium Centre

Over at Govandi Shanti Nagar 14, you will find Madina Aluminium Centre. It is a busy spot. We spend most of our days cutting aluminium sections and fitting glass into frames. The shop is filled with long silver poles and stacks of glass panes leaning against the walls. We do a lot of sliding windows for the houses around here. People like the powder-coated ones because they look clean and last a while. It gets noisy when the saws are running, so we usually have to shout to hear each other. We started out small and stayed that way, mostly because we like knowing exactly what is going on with every order. Sometimes a customer wants a specific handle or a certain type of mosquito mesh, and we go out to find it if it is not in the back. There isn't much space to walk around once the material for a big job arrives. We keep our tools in old wooden crates. It's not a showroom where everything is shiny and perfect. It is a workshop. We work with our hands and we make sure the tracks are smooth so the windows don't stick. The neighborhood is always active, and we fit right in with the other shops on the street. If someone needs a quick repair on a bathroom door or a shop front, they usually stop by here first. We just do the work and try to keep things moving along.
