Agarwal Trading Co. is tucked away in Unit 3 of the New India Ind. Estate. If you are looking for us, we are right opposite the old Paper Box Factory off MK Caves Road in Andheri East. It’s a busy spot in Mumbai, and finding a place to park is always a headache, so most of us just take the train or a rickshaw to get here. The estate itself is quite old and has that specific smell of grease and cardboard. We have a small warehouse space here where we keep our stock. It’s not the biggest place, so we have to be really smart about how we stack things up to the ceiling. During the monsoon, the water sometimes collects near the entrance, but we’ve learned how to deal with that over the years. We spend our days checking manifests and making sure the loaders get the right boxes for the deliveries. It’s a lot of manual work and keeping track of numbers in our ledgers. We know most of the other shop owners in the estate, so there’s always someone to talk to while grabbing a quick tea at the corner stall. It’s a fast-paced environment because customers in Mumbai are always in a hurry. We just try to keep up and make sure our stock is ready when it is needed. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do and we’ve been here for years.
