Lokhuq Manavseva Council

Our group, the Lokhuq Manavseva Council, operates out of a room in Devi Niwas, specifically 3/13. We are located in Jamil Nagar along P.N. Road in Bhandup. Mumbai is a crowded place, and our corner of it is no different. We spend a lot of time just working through the daily tasks that come with running a council like this. It’s a local effort, and most of us live nearby or have some connection to the Bhandup area. The building is a typical residential-commercial mix, so you hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day long. We don't have a big staff or a fancy reception desk. Usually, it's just a couple of us sitting around a desk with files and a phone. We do what we can to help out with manavseva, which basically means serving people in whatever small ways are possible from this office. Life on P.N. Road moves fast, but we try to keep a steady pace. It’s not always easy keeping everything organized in a small space, but we manage. Most people who find us are from the local streets or heard about us from a neighbor. We keep the doors open and try to be useful. It is honest work and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is. Being in Mumbai City means there is always something happening outside, but inside Devi Niwas, we just keep our heads down and stay busy with our chores. We often have tea while discussing the next day's schedule.
