Latai Social Welfare Foundation

Morewadi is one of those places where everyone knows everyone. Our foundation, Latai Social Welfare Foundation, is based out of Bhudargad in the Kolhapur district. We use a space that's care of Shri Patil Ganapati. It's a local spot, very practical. You won't find any shiny signs or fancy furniture here. We have a few old wooden tables and some benches. Most of the work involves talking to people who walk in from the nearby fields or the village center. Kolhapur has a specific kind of energy, and we are right in the middle of it. The air is different here than in the big cities. We deal with things as they come. If someone has a problem or needs help with something, they just show up at the door. It’s very informal. We don't have official office hours in the way people in Mumbai might. If the door is open, we are working. Usually, there's a pot of tea going. We spend our time trying to be useful to the folks around here. The address is simple, just Mallu Morewadi. It’s a humble place, and that’s how we like it. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a big office. We just want to do the work that needs doing. Sometimes the rain makes the roads a bit muddy, but we manage just fine. It's home for us and we've been here for years.
