L&T Community Welfare Association. We are based at L&T House on Graham Road, right there on Narottam Morarji Marg in Ballard Estate. It’s a very old part of Mumbai with those big stone buildings that have been around forever. Even though the name on the building is big, our association is just a group of people trying to do some good for the community. The office has high ceilings and that old-fashioned feel. You can hear the taxis honking outside all day. We work on a variety of local projects. It’s not a corporate environment in our corner of the building. We’re more about practical help. Most of us have been working in this area for years, so we’ve seen how much it has changed. We don’t do a lot of fancy presentations. Usually, we just get together and talk about which local groups need support. It can be a bit slow moving sometimes because of the heritage nature of the area, but we stay busy. We have a lot of files from over the years tucked away in cabinets. People from all over the city come by Ballard Estate for work, so we get to meet a lot of different folks. It’s a solid place to be based, even if the commute in the rain is a bit of a mess. We are just here doing the work we have always done. It’s simple, steady, and keeps us connected.
