Krishna Lila

We’ve been here at shop seven and eight in Bhavesha Apartment for a good while now. Andheri West is always moving fast, and being near the Crawford Market area means there is never a quiet minute. It’s just how things go around here. Some days the rain gets really heavy and we have to watch the entrance, but mostly it’s just us doing our daily work. Krishna Lila isn't a huge place, just a regular local spot where people stop by. My brother and I usually handle the morning shift. We try to keep things organized on the shelves because the space is a bit tight with two shops joined together. You see the same faces every morning, mostly people living in the building or heading to the station. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the front for a bit too long, which is a bit of a headache, but that’s life in Mumbai. We don't have any fancy signs or anything. It's just the name on the board. We spend a lot of time just talking to the neighbors and making sure everything is in its right place. It’s a simple way to earn a living, really. There’s always someone asking for directions to the market or just leaning against the wall to take a phone call. We don't mind. It’s been our second home for years, and the walls in Bhavesha Apartment have seen a lot of changes in the neighborhood.
