Kripasavitri Foundation

We are based in Bhandup, specifically in Farid Nagar. Our place is room number 4 in Ahmed Chawl. It is a very local area, very grounded. If you come by, you’ll see kids playing in the lanes and people hanging out their laundry. Our room is small and packed with things we use for our daily tasks at the Kripasavitri Foundation. We don’t have air conditioning or fancy chairs, just a ceiling fan that works most of the time. We focus on the people right here in our community. It’s a lot of face-to-face interaction. People stop by to tell us about their troubles or to ask for a bit of advice. We listen a lot. Mumbai City-400078 is a tough place to live for many, and we just try to make it a little bit easier in our own small way. We don’t have a website with glossy photos. What you see is what you get. The chawl life is communal, so we are always talking to our neighbors. Sometimes we share a meal while we discuss what needs to be done next in Maharashtra. It’s practical, everyday work. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just looking after the folks in our immediate vicinity. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we keep the door open to let a breeze in. It’s just home to us. We’ve been here for years, and most everyone knows us. We just keep at it every day, simple as that.
