Kanrar Urmila Mohan Foundation

We operate the Kanrar Urmila Mohan Foundation from the fourth floor of the Binani Building. It’s located at Plot 38 on Bhoiwada 2nd Lane, right in the heart of the Bhuleshwar Market area in Kalbadevi. If you know South Mumbai, you know how crowded and tight these lanes can get. Our office, number 25, is tucked away up there. It’s an old building, and the stairs can be a bit of a climb, but it’s home for us. Being in the middle of such a busy market means there is always noise and movement outside. We deal with all sorts of administrative work here. There are stacks of files everywhere because we try to keep track of everything manually as much as we can. It’s a very traditional atmosphere. We don’t have air conditioning or glass partitions, just old fans and heavy wooden desks. Most of the people around us are merchants or small business owners. We fit right in. Our days are filled with meeting people from the neighborhood and handling the foundation’s paperwork. It’s a bit dusty and the 400002 area is always chaotic, but we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. We just do our work one day at a time, trying to keep things moving. It’s a simple life here in the market, but there’s always something that needs to be taken care of.
