Javed Arts

Javed Arts is found at number 9 in Vikhroli West, over in the 7 Bungalows area. We are very close to Gurunanak School, so we hear the school bell ringing and children playing throughout the day. Our workspace is usually a bit of a mess with brushes, pots of paint, and different boards leaning against the walls. We do a lot of hand-painted work and lettering, so there is always the smell of thinners and oil colors in the air. It is not the kind of place where you will find fancy furniture or a clean carpet. We have wooden stools that have been splashed with every color you can think of over the years. We spend our hours crouching over signs or standing at easels, trying to get the lines straight. The light comes in through the front door, which we usually leave open to let the fumes out. People from the 7 Bungalows neighborhood drop by to ask for small jobs or just to see what we are working on. It is a local life, and we have been in this spot in Vikhroli for quite a while now. We do not use any high-tech machines, just our hands and the tools we have owned for a long time. It can be tiring work on the back and the eyes, but it is what we know how to do best. We just keep painting until the job is finished and ready to be picked up.
