Jaks Art Corporation

We’ve been here at 197 Khadilkar Road for a long time now. If you know Mumbai, you know how busy it gets around Sultan Palya Main Road. Our shop is right opposite the Madhav Baug Post Office, which is a good landmark because everyone knows where that is. Jaks Art Corporation is just us doing our daily work with art materials and frames. Some days the traffic outside is so loud we can hardly hear each other talk. We usually start the morning with some tea from the stall down the street. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. We have stacks of papers and frames leaning against the walls most of the time. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the window when it pours really hard during the monsoon. We just wipe it up and keep going. My cousin helps out sometimes when things get busy. We don't have a big website or a social media manager. It is just a place where we get things done. People stop by to ask for directions to the post office almost as often as they come in for art stuff. The light in the afternoon hits the front desk just right, even if the desk is a bit scratched up from years of use. We don’t mind. It feels like home to us. It’s just how we do things here in this part of town. We keep the fans running all day to deal with the heat. It’s a simple life.
