Our shop is tucked into the 181 Sankalp Building over in Lal Baug. If you know Mumbai, you know Lal Baug is always moving and full of energy, especially during the festival seasons. Jagdish Art is a place where things are always being made or worked on. The building itself is an older one, and we have our setup inside where it smells like paint and materials most of the time. It is not a sterile gallery or a corporate office. It is a workshop where things get a bit messy. There are brushes, frames, and various supplies scattered around the tables. We like it that way because it shows we are actually doing something. People walk in from the street, sometimes just to ask for directions or to see what we are currently working on. It is a small space but we make it work. Most days are spent sitting at the benches or standing over a piece of work for hours. The lighting inside is okay, but we often wish for more sun. Lal Baug has its own rhythm, and we are just a small part of it. We don't have a big team of people, just a few of us who know how to handle the tools. It is honest work and we have been in this building for quite a while now. It feels like home to us even when it's crowded.
