About Impact Journalism Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Mumbai
Our space is tucked away in Charkop Sector 9, over in Kandivalli West. If you know the area, Impact Journalism Foundation is right behind the new telephone exchange in Jaydev Tower. It is B/106. The building has been there for quite a while and has that old Mumbai feel. We spend most of our mornings drinking tea and figuring out what stories need to be told. Journalism isn't always about the big headlines you see on TV every night. Sometimes it is just about what is happening on the next street over. The office is usually messy with papers and notebooks scattered around the desks. We do not really have a receptionist or anything like that. If the bell rings, whoever is closest to the door gets it. Kandivalli is a crowded place, and finding parking near the tower is always a bit of a headache for visitors. We like it here though. There is a good mix of people in this neighborhood. Our work involves talking to folks, listening to their problems, and writing it all down. It is a slow process sometimes. We aren't looking to change the world overnight. We just want to get the facts straight. The internet goes out occasionally, which can be annoying when we have deadlines. But we make it work. It is a small group of us here. We do not have fancy desks, just the basics to get the job done. (246 words)
