Gola Arts

Our shop is tucked away on the first floor of Lehiri House, right at 12/12 on Nave Jivan Press Road. If you know Mumbai Central, you know how noisy it gets outside. But up here at Gola Arts, it’s a bit different. We usually have pieces of work spread out across the tables. It’s not always tidy, but that’s what happens when you’re actually making things. We deal with all sorts of art projects and custom work. Sometimes a customer comes in with a vague idea and we have to sit down and sketch it out until it makes sense. We’ve been in this building for a bit now. The stairs are a bit steep, but people find us anyway. Most of our day is spent working with different materials and making sure the colors look right. We don’t have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a workspace where we get things done. Sometimes we stay late because a project needs that extra bit of time. The light in this part of Mumbai is actually pretty good in the afternoons. We see a lot of different people coming through the doors, from students to older folks who’ve lived in the neighborhood forever. We just focus on the craft and try to keep the shop running smoothly. It’s a small team here, just a few of us who actually enjoy the work. We drink a lot of coffee and try to finish our orders on time for the clients.
