Duvedi Social Welfare Foundation

Our foundation is tucked away in the Sagar Shrot building over in the Juhu Versova area. We are in apartment A/301, which is right behind the HDFC Bank. Most of us here have lived in Mumbai for a long time, so we know this neighborhood pretty well. The Duvedi Social Welfare Foundation started because we saw things that needed doing around here. It’s a busy spot, being so close to the bank and everything, so there's always something going on. We aren't a big operation with hundreds of people. Usually, it's just a couple of us in the office handling the daily bits and pieces. The building is a typical Mumbai structure, a bit older but it serves us fine. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just organizing files in the room. It’s not the most glamorous work, but someone has to do it. Living and working in 400053 means we see a lot of the same neighbors every morning. We like that feeling of being part of the street. Sometimes the traffic in Mumbai makes it hard for people to get to us, but being behind the HDFC bank makes it easier to explain where we are. We don't have any fancy brochures or big ads. We just work out of this flat and try to handle the social welfare tasks that come across our desk. It’s a quiet place to get things done. We've been here for a bit now and it feels like home.
