Our spot is up on the third floor of Birje House, which sits right on Gokhale Road in the Chandlodiya neighborhood. To get to us, you have to walk through Rambalram Nagar, which is always full of people and small shops selling all sorts of things. The climb to the third floor is a bit of a workout every morning, especially since we don't have one of those modern elevators that actually works all the time. The office itself is pretty basic. We have some tables pushed together and the walls are covered with whatever we happen to be working on at the moment. It’s an arts business, but don’t expect a clean gallery with white walls and soft music. It’s more of a workshop where things get a bit messy. You can hear the noise from Gokhale Road coming through the windows all day long, mostly horns and the occasional street vendor shouting out their prices. Sometimes the dust from the street gets in, so we spend a lot of time wiping down our desks. We aren't trying to be anything special or high-end. We just like what we do and we’ve been doing it from this same floor for a good long while now. It’s a decent place to spend the day, and the view from the top floor lets us see what’s happening down in the market without having to be stuck right in the middle of the crowd.
