Dhristi Child Help Foundation

If you’re down near Dana Bunder, you might find us at Dhristi Child Help Foundation. We are on the fourth floor of Broach Bhuvan, which is plot 84A on Devjiratansi Marg. It’s an old part of the city, Chinchbunder, and the building has that classic Mumbai feel to it. There is a lot of trading and heavy lifting going on in the streets around here, so it’s always busy. To get to our office, you have to take the stairs or the old lift up to floor four. We have room 403. It’s a bit of a maze in the building, but once you find us, it’s a calm little space. We focus on helping kids, which is why we started this in the first place. The office is full of files and some old posters on the walls. We don’t have a lot of money for decorations, so we just focus on the work. It’s often just two or three of us in there at a time. The windows look out over the busy docks and the railway area, so there’s always something to see. We aren’t a big fancy charity with millions of rupees. We just do what we can with the little we have. People stop by to drop off things or ask for help, and we do our best to listen to their stories. It’s simple and honest work. It gets loud downstairs but we are used to it by now.
