Dharavi Social Foundation

Our office for Dharavi Social Foundation is in Room A-15 in Muslim Nagar. It’s right off the 90 Feet Road in Dharavi. If you know Mumbai, you know how busy this area is. There is always noise and movement, and our little room is right in the middle of it all. We have been here for a bit, trying to do some good for the local families. The room is tiny, maybe just enough for three or four people to sit comfortably, but we often cram more in when there’s a meeting about something important. It’s a bit dusty because of all the construction and traffic nearby, but we try to keep it tidy enough. We don’t have any fancy computers or high-speed internet, just the basics to get things done. Most of our work happens out on the street anyway, talking to people and seeing what they need. We are just regular people from the neighborhood who wanted to help out. We don’t wear suits or anything like that. You can usually find one of us sitting by the door around mid-morning. We know the struggles of living here, so we just try to be a helping hand where we can. It’s a simple operation. We don’t have a big budget, just our time and a bit of space in Muslim Nagar to call our own. If you’re passing by 90 Feet Road, you might see our small sign.
