About Coastal Conservation Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Mumbai
We are tucked away in the Kanara House on Mogal Lane, right in the Mahim area of Mumbai. It’s on the fourth floor, so there are quite a lot of stairs to climb if the lift is acting up again, which happens more than we’d like. The Coastal Conservation Foundation is basically just us trying to look after what’s left of our shores. Living in a city like Mumbai, you see the water every day, and you see how it gets treated. We decided to set up shop here at Plot 393 on Pandit Satavalekar Marg because it’s a central enough spot for us to get around. It’s not a polished corporate office by any means. There are stacks of folders everywhere and usually someone is tracking sand into the hallway from a recent trip to the beach. We spend a lot of time talking to local folks and trying to figure out practical ways to deal with the coast. It’s hard work and some days it feels like we aren't getting very far, but we keep at it. The office is small, but it works for what we need. Mahim is a noisy place, and the sounds from the street always drift up to the fourth floor through the open windows. We don't have fancy brochures or a team of PR people. It’s just us. Sometimes we have volunteers coming in and out, which makes it even more crowded. But that’s fine. We just want to make sure the sea doesn’t get forgotten.
