You can find Blue Art Gallery at number 14 in Union Park, Khar West. It’s a relatively quiet street compared to the rest of the suburb. The gallery is a simple space with white walls and a grey floor. We have some lights hanging from the ceiling to make sure the art is visible. I spend my days sitting at a small desk near the back. Usually, I’m just tidying up or helping people who wander in from the park. It’s not a very formal place. You don't have to dress up to come here. We just show different kinds of paintings and sometimes some sculptures. We don't have a mission statement or any grand goals. We just like having art on the walls for people to see. Union Park is a nice area with a lot of trees, so the light that comes in through the front is quite good. Sometimes artists come by to drop off new work and we spend time chatting about local news. It’s more of a neighborhood spot than a big commercial gallery. We don't do much in the way of advertising. Mostly, it’s just people who live in Khar or are visiting the nearby cafes who stop in. It’s a very relaxed environment. If someone wants to buy something, we handle the paperwork on the spot. It’s a straightforward way to run things and it suits the area well.
