Barefoot Edu Foundation

Our foundation is based in the Ashoka Centre, right on L.T. Marg in Mumbai. We’re up on the second floor in Office No. 92. The building itself has been around for a long time and has that sturdy, old-school feel to it. Working here means being right in the middle of the city’s rush. L.T. Marg is always busy, and finding a quiet moment is rare. We focus a lot on education things, hence the name Barefoot Edu Foundation. It’s mostly us sitting around desks piled high with notebooks and plans. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a receptionist to greet you. Usually, you just walk in and find one of us working on a laptop. The office gets a bit warm in the summer, but we have a few fans that do the trick. We spend a lot of time talking to teachers and students who drop by to see us. It’s not a corporate environment at all; it’s more like a workshop where things are always being built or moved around. We’ve grown attached to this little corner of Mumbai City. Even with the crowded hallways of the Ashoka Centre, it feels right for what we do. We don’t use any big words to describe our work. It’s just about helping where we can and keeping the foundation running day by day. We just take things as they come.
