Asian Arts is tucked away in Andheri East, right near the Sagar Milk Centre. If you know the 11 C area, you know it’s a bit of a maze with all the small shops and industrial units packed together. Our space is filled with all sorts of materials and half-finished projects. It’s not one of those clean, white-walled galleries you see in the magazines. There is dust on the shelves and stacks of crates everywhere. We’ve been here for a good amount of time, and the neighborhood has changed around us, but we’re still doing the same kind of work. The heat in Andheri can be pretty intense, so we usually have the fans going full blast while we work on different pieces. People often stop by just because they saw the sign while heading to the milk center. We don’t have a big marketing team or a polished front desk. Usually, someone is just sitting there working on a ledger or moving boxes around. It’s a bit cluttered, but we know exactly where everything is kept. The local delivery guys know us well, and we have a routine that hasn't changed much in years. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a big corporate look. It’s just a place for art and craft to happen in the middle of a busy part of Mumbai. We keep things simple and just focus on getting the day's tasks done before the evening rush starts. It gets loud outside, but we just keep our heads down and work.
