Asfahani Foundation

We have been running the Asfahani Foundation from our spot at 13, Panchasheel Chawlsunder Bagh for a while now. If you know the Kamani Kurla area in West Mumbai, you know it is always busy with people and traffic. Our place is right there in the middle of all that noise and energy. It is not a fancy office with glass windows or big signs. It is just a practical space in the chawl where we can get together and do what needs to be done. Most days, you will find a few of us just sitting around the desks, sorting through papers or talking to neighbors who drop by. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons, but we have a couple of fans that keep the air moving. We do not have anyone to write fancy brochures or advertisements for us. We just handle the day-to-day tasks as they come up. People often ask us what we do exactly, and it is hard to put into a short sentence because we just try to help out where we can. Living and working in West Mumbai means you have to be ready for a lot of bustle. The address is easy to find once you get into the Sunder Bagh lanes. We spend a lot of our time just keeping things going. Some days are slow, but other times we are working until late in the evening. It is a simple, honest setup at Panchasheel Chawl and it works for us.
