Arya Art Studio

Arya Art Studio is tucked away at 15/Kader Mestry Chawl in Jamil Nagar. Being in Bhandup West, we are right in the middle of a very lively part of Mumbai. The studio itself is a bit small and often smells like oil paint and turpentine. We have canvases leaning against the walls and jars of brushes everywhere. It is not a sterile gallery; it is a place where work actually happens. The floor has a few stains from spilled ink and paint, but that is just part of being an art space. We do a lot of different things here, from painting to some small craft work. Since we are in a chawl, space is tight, so we have to be very organized with how we store our materials and tools. There is a lot of noise from the street outside, but once you start working on a piece, you sort of stop noticing it. People from the neighborhood sometimes peak in to see what is being made. We do not have big exhibitions or anything like that. Mostly, we just create things for local clients or for people who stumble upon our studio. The light coming through the window is okay in the morning, which is when we get most of the detailed work done. It is a humble spot, but it is where we feel most comfortable. We have been in Jamil Nagar for years.
