Arus Global Women Development Association

You can find us in Peth Vadgaon, at Datta Nagar on CS No 115. This is in the Hatkanangale area of Kolhapur. It’s a very local spot and we’ve been part of this community for a long time. Our association works out of a simple building that doesn't look like much from the outside. We have some heavy wooden desks that have been with us since the beginning and a lot of metal cupboards for our records. The weather in Kolhapur can be quite hot, so we usually keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze we can. There’s a lot of dust from the road, but that’s just part of being here. We don’t have a website or a big social media presence. We mostly just talk to people face-to-face. It’s how things have always worked in Datta Nagar. Most days, we’re busy coordinating different things for the women in the district. It’s a lot of talking and writing things down in ledgers. We don't use much fancy technology, just an old computer that sometimes acts up. People know they can just stop by if they need something. We might be in the middle of lunch or a meeting, but we always make time to listen. It’s a bit disorganized at times, but we manage to get the important things done. It feels right to be working from a place that looks just like the homes of the people we help.
